Work news

I started my job on Monday, and it's going pretty well. At 6:45 AM I work at the before-school program with two other girls watching over 30 kids for two hours. I have never seen so many kids have that much energy at 7 in the morning, and from what I hear they have just as much energy after school as well. I work at a different school for the after-school program, and at that school I'm the Assistant Site Director, and in January will become the Site Director. It's a little harder for me there because I'm totally brand new and the other two girls were at that school last year, so the kids listen to them more than they do me.

This afternoon all the elementary schools were let out an hour early because of the heat, and I was the only person at my school who could get there an hour early for the after school program, so I was by myself for the first hour, and it was nuts. It was my second day, and my site director hadn't told me where anything was yet because she was like "You don't need to worry about this and this and this yet, because I'll always just be here for it". And she wasn't there and I had to try and figure it all out for myself which did not go as well as I'd hoped. But I learned from it, and hopefully things will start going smoother.

When I got home last night Tebben and I were both way too tired to go to the store but we both really wanted cookies, and all we had was white sugar, bread flour, whole wheat flower, eggs, milk and peanut butter. My Mom totally saved the day with this cookie recipe, and I'm goint to pass it on because they were some of the best cookies we've ever had, no joke:

1 cup peanut butter(stir until creamier)
then add
1 cup sugar
stir some more and then stir in
1 egg

Bake 12-14 min at 350, and they are delicious!

I made those cookies at 9pm last night, and then was completely asleep by 9:30. I've never been so tired, I don't think!

Tebben's been way busy too, going to 12 hours of class and working at U of I catering with a few odd hours at the Computer Center as well as 6 AM PT every other morning! Once we get into the swing of things we should have our schedules better under control but for now life is still pretty crazy.

Katie -
Your job schedule makes me want to go back to bed. I would so not have made the cookies - I would have hit the UDF on the way home for one of those rolls of dough you can splooge out onto the cookie sheet. I also would have gotten a frozen pizza. Then I would have gone to bed 2 minutes after eating those. 9:30 is when I'm asking Joe every day if it is too early to go to bed.

Tebben - you go on with your bad self with PT. Sounds like both of you have a lot going on. You'll get into a groove.

Hugs to you both,
Mary

Sounds like your job left you to sink or swim and you are definitely swimming! Great Job!

How cruel am I if I read all about how exhausted you both are and yet still ask for updated house pictures??

There's no flour in the cookies?
