I went up to libertyville to visit with Cousins Evie and Maddie and we have done every fall activity we could think of. Yesterday we hit up the pumpkin patch that had not only a corn maze, a hay maze, and a petting zoo, but a whole bouncy house city in which Maddie had a blast. When we got home Auntie Bets and Matt came over/upstairs to carve pumpkins with us and my dad. Poor mom has been working on homework pretty much all weekend.
This has been a great weekend to recover from the super hell week of buying a car. Now that we officially have the new car and all our car nightmares are over, I feel like I can tell the story and kind of laugh about it. But not quite.
So here's what happened: A little over two weeks ago my 1985 volvo completely died across the street from our apartment. We drove back and forth between the car and the gas station filling up our 1 gallon gas can over and over because thats the biggest gas can you can get around us. No gas wasn't the only problem, though, so we had it towed to a AAA certified repair shop. They diagnosed the car and Tebben figured he could fix it himself, so he decided to push it out of the auto shop and into the Christian Reading Room Parking lot next door. So all the shop guys lined up to laugh at us as we pushed it out. This was at about 1pm and by 7pm Tebben had fixed what they'd diagnosed, but there were still other problems, so we had the car towed again back to our apartment parking lot. And it was raining that whole day.
Also that day was when I got promoted, which was great news, but I had no idea this job would be as stressful as it was. It turns out they had planned on demoting one of the girls on my staff, but they wanted my documentation that she sucked first, so I had one proven sucky staff member, one that hadn't shown up in a week, and one who rocks but only comes 3 days a week, oh and 50 kids who have gone 2 months with absolutely no structure. The sucky girl started badmouthing me to the kids immediately, so I have kids coming up to me saying all kinds of rumors "they been hearin'". And they fistfight. It's insane. But it will get better!
So during all this going on, Tebben and I were trying to buy car. We looked at and test drove about a thousand cars and read just about everything on-line we could find. Buying a car is the worst thing we have been through together, but don't worry the wedding is still on!
We finally have an adorable white Pontiac Vibe 4 door sport wagon. You can tell its a sport wagon because the steering wheel is extra small like a real race car!
The day after we bought the car Tebben's mom and dad drove over from Peoria and spent about 10 hours working on the volvo until they got it running. That volvo was not worth the parts and even half the time that got put into it but its running now, so thats good! Oh, and it was raining the whole day they worked on it.
Sport wagon pictures to come, right now I'm too pooped from all my pumpkin carving and cider drinking!

I think the Vibe has a Toyota engine. My friend has one and has loved it. How totally cute, too!
It sounds like so much fun this past weekend!
It sounds like absolutely no fun this past week! I hope the job is okay. It sounds challenging - in a not fun way. If anyone can bring some goodness to the place, you can, Katie.
I hope this week is much better for you, K.T. Thanks for leaving the Halloween socks for me to wear today!
