The trip to Hanna City was definitely fun. We got there at about 9 in the evening, because we had to stop and get a wedding present for Tebben's friend, and everything we picked out to buy was all scuffed up. After extensive debate we ended up just getting a muffin pan and oven mitts that they had registered for. The wedding was Saturday night, and I found out we were going to it Friday morning, so I was still pretty proud of us and our getting everything, outfits included, together by Saturday evening.
Also on Saturday was a surprise party for Tebben's dad, Teb. It was a small dinner with Tebben's Uncle and his family and Tebben's Grandma, and all of us. I was introduced to Jello-cake, which is super hard to make, but totally delicious. It's three layers of yellow cake with strawberry jello in between each layer, and I had a huge slice (good think I saved all my points up for this weekend!). It was way more delicious than the gorgeous wedding cake I had a bite of later that night, which reaffirms my decision to get delicious cakes that look like plain old cakes for my wedding instead of a bazillion dollar affair.
Also reaffirmed at the wedding this weekend was I don't want a color theme for my wedding. I'm going to pick out whatever color lillies look best, as long as they don't clash too much with blue (the bridesmaids will be in blues to match with Tebben's dress blues, which are three different shades of blue). So I guess, really, shades of blue will be the theme, but the centerpieces are going to be whatever looks pretty, and most blue flowers are really purple, so whatever.
My friend Jenina is a cello player, and she starts her Music graduate degree this fall, so she's going to hook us up with a quartet for the ceremony, which is way fun! I think the only things we have left to book are the photographer, the officiant, and the dj, I guess. I'm still up in the air about a dj, especially after the wedding we just went to, where the dj was a total ass and the first three songs he played were the chicken dance, the ymca and the electric slide. I think we found one where I can hand pick every song that gets played and outlaw things like the chicken dance. The officiant is going to be a little tricky too, because this far ahead of time you can't get an Army chaplain, because they get deployed at the drop of a hat, and they get deployed fairly frequently. Tebben's Captain Crunch ( I don't remember his real name, but it sounds like that) said that usually you can get a Chaplain to promise to at least have someone be there on The internet at my house is acting up hard core, so I have to go to coffee shops to use the internet, and my parking meter is up, so I'd better head out! I'm off to the Champaign Public library to turn in my application, so cross your fingers for me, and I've got my fingers crossed that Mary and Joe's move goes well, that Gabriella is feeling 100% and that Maddie has way fun dancing, or just dressing up, whichever goes best.

My fingers are totally crossed for you and your dream job!
I think you should have jello cake and green stuff at your wedding! Jello legacies from each side of the family. That would be super meaningful.
Tebben's just married friends don't have access to your blog, do they? Cuz you dogged their wedding pretty hard! (totally deservedly of course)
Every so often at a meal Maddie will want to wipe our faces while sharing a napkin "just like with Cousin Katie". It's so cute. Even if you get this job, we will have to get you down here for a weekend. Maddie can't go too long without a visit from her fairy godmother!
Oooo...I love deleted comments. Scandalous.
Our move was good and we are pretty settled in. Cable guys came today, so finally have internet.
So, my friend, Juli, who you totally know - she's been around since 1987 and was my roommate in college (not Heidi, with whom we ordered fries and movies) - at her wedding, she had a photograph of beautiful stones in all different shades of blue, green, and I think yellow. Totally cool. She gave the photo to each bridesmaid and told us to pick out our own dresses just include color or colors from the picture. We all looked like ourselves but totally cohesive. I thought that was cool.
